What browsers can I use?

Do you support all media players?

We support Adobe Flash and Windows Media Player as these are the most commonly used players.

I can't get in to the event from the agenda page.

The most likely reason for this is that your Internet browser may be set to prevent pop-up windows from displaying. Many browsers are set to do this in order to stop annoying advertisements from popping up as people surf the Internet. However, in most cases, the Unique-Media.TV webcast does need a pop-up window in which to display its interface.

If your Internet browser is set to disable pop-up windows, you will need to reconfigure it in order to view the webcast. Pop-up settings can often be found under one of your browser's menus or as one of the options within your computer's control panel.

I don't have PowerPoint, can I still view the event?

The event broadcast does not require Powerpoint to be installed on the user's machine. If you would like to download and view the full PowerPoint presentation then you can use the free PowerPoint viewer here.

Can I download the full presentation?

If the speaker has approved this then it will be made available for download during the event and archive. Simply click on the download button at the bottom left of the webcast interface.

When should I log in to the webcast?

We advise that you log on 15 minutes before the event is due to go live so that you can see if everything is working correctly.

How long will the archive be available?

All of our webcast events are archived for a minimum of one month after the original broadcast date.

Can I view the slides at full screen?

Unfortunately not. The interface has been designed to fill a standard monitor size. If you would like to view the slides at full screen you are able to download the speaker(s) presentations via the downloads.

The video and/or sound keeps stopping.

The bandwidth of the stream you are watching may be too high for your connection. Try watching the low or audio only stream.

Why does the audio vary in quality during a webcast?

Some older operating systems have problems allocating system resources between open applications.
Try closing down some of the applications and any other software that might interfere with your reception of the webcast. If possible make sure that you have firewall and anti-virus software turned off.

If you are running Windows 98, you might want to reboot your system before you connect to the webcast, to ensure maximum resources are at hand.

I am able to get into the main webcast page, but there is no video or audio.

You are most likely behind a firewall that is blocking the Webcast media from streaming through to your computer. Please try these Windows Media Player configuration instructions:

1. In Windows Media Player, click on the Tools menu.
2. Click on the Options menu item.
3. Click on the Network tab.
4. Under the Streaming Protocols section, verify that HTTP is checked.
5. Under the Streaming proxy settings, select the HTTP protocol and click on the configure button.
6. Make sure that "Use proxy settings of the browser" is selected.
7. Select the OK button to confirm your choices.

If, after making these changes to your media player, you still can't see any video in the Webcast interface then it is likely that your firewall administrator is blocking streamed content.

The video plays but the slides aren't changing.

If the video plays and the slides are not changing please check the following setting: open up your Windows Media Player and go to Tools > Options > Security. It should look something like the image below, however the exact look will vary with different versions. If the setting "Do not run script commands and rich media streams if the player is running inside a Web page" is ticked then please untick it, then press "Apply". You will then need to log into the event again.

During a live event I asked a question but did not get a response.

Due to the length of live events there is often not time for the speakers to respond to all of the questions. However all of the questions are passed on to the speakers for them to follow up appropriately.
